ART MEETS WINE: A NEW COMMISSION FOR PIEZA, RIBERA DEL DUERO

I am delighted to share some exciting news: one of my original paintings has been selected to become part of a very special wine project in Spain.

Following a wonderful meeting and conversation about the vision behind PIEZA, I have been commissioned to create a bespoke 60 × 60 cm original painting, which will feature on the label of a PIEZA RIOJA wine bottle from the renowned Ribera del Duero region.

The commission offers a beautiful opportunity to bring together two worlds that are very close to my heart: art, landscape and the sensory experience of place.

Inspired by the landscape of Ribera del Duero, the painting explores the relationship between land, light, colour and atmosphere. Vibrant fields unfold beneath an expansive sky, while a solitary tree anchors the composition, creating a sense of connection, memory and belonging. Through expressive mark-making, layered colour and energetic brushwork, I wanted to capture not simply a particular landscape, but the emotional experience of being within it.

Wine, like painting, carries the character of its origins. It is shaped by the soil, climate, time and the hands of those who create it. This idea resonates deeply with my own artistic practice, where each painting develops through layers, intuition, gesture and a personal response to the world around me.

I am incredibly excited to see my artwork become part of the identity of PIEZA and to contribute to a project where creativity, craftsmanship and a sense of place come together.

More details and images from the development of this commission will be shared soon.

Art and wine both begin with the land — and every piece tells a story.
