This Drawing and Painting course is designed for beginners who want to build confidence and skills in visual art. Across six guided, face-to-face sessions, learners will explore essential drawing techniques alongside acrylic painting methods through hands-on practice.

Each session combines step-by-step demonstrations, practical exercises, and creative projects. You’ll learn how to observe shapes, lines, and tones, then translate them into drawings and paintings using accessible materials. No prior experience is required—this course focuses on learning by doing in a supportive and encouraging environment.

By the end of the course, participants will have a solid foundation in drawing and acrylic painting, as well as a small collection of completed artworks.

Week 1: Introduction to Drawing & Materials

Learn the basics of drawing and painting materials. This session focuses on the line, shape, and simple observational drawing exercises to build confidence and hand control.

Week 2: Shading, Form, and Tone

Explore how light and shadow create form. You’ll practice shading techniques in drawing and apply tonal understanding through simple monochrome acrylic painting.

Week 3: Composition and Still Life Drawing

Week 4: Colour Theory & Acrylic Painting Techniques

Discover basic colour theory, colour mixing, and brush handling. Practice acrylic painting techniques such as layering, blending, and texture.

Week 5: Drawing to Painting – Translating Sketches

Learn how to develop a drawing into a painted artwork. This session focuses on planning, sketching on canvas, and building a painting step by step.

Week 6: Final Artwork & Reflection

Create a finished drawing or acrylic painting using the techniques learned throughout the course. The session concludes with group sharing, feedback, and reflection.
