Inspiration

My artwork is deeply inspired by the world around me. I draw from the beauty of nature—its raw textures, vibrant colours, and organic patterns. The cracks in aged wood, the shifting sands of a windswept beach, or the play of light and shadow on a rugged mountainside often find their way into the layers of my creations.

Artist Statement

Alexandra Ghimisi’s work explores the interplay of texture, colour, and emotion, creating pieces that invite both visual and tactile engagement. Inspired by the raw beauty of nature and the complexity of human experiences, her art weaves these elements into bold compositions and intricate details.

Using tools such as spatulas, scrapers, squeegees, and palette knives, Alexandra carves and shapes textured surfaces, allowing cracks and crevices to emerge as part of the narrative. These imperfections serve as a foundation for layers of vibrant colour, each carefully chosen to evoke a mood or tell a story.

For Alexandra, art is not just about the finished piece but the process—the balance of control and spontaneity, the joy of discovery, and the dialogue between material and vision. Her work aims to spark curiosity and encourage viewers to find their own connections and interpretations within the textures and patterns.
